A painting is not a picture of an experience,
but is the experience
Mark Rothko
The “Juta” series takes inspiration from Rothko’s abstract expressionism for the division of the painted surface with homogeneous colour strokes. We embraced the contemplative purity of Rothko’s works and adapted it in our times, mixing the American genius’ technic with the gentleness of the traditional oriental calligraphy, without neglecting the need for versatility requested by contemporary décor.
The choice of pastel tones values the surface’s texture of this beautiful series of coverings, that recalls the canvas materiality; the satin finish, obtained by colour’s penetration in the relief textures, gifts brightness to ”Juta”’s tiles, realized in three different sizes: two bases, 10X30 cm and 10X20 cm and a decorative one 20X20 cm.
Each tile is hand-painted and thus unique and precious. Juta is a versatile, characterized by modular patterns, adaptable to different environments’ style: minimal, geometric, abstract; the single stroke’s linearity allows endless combinations with results spacing from the simplest to complex. Like painting a picture.
